Kota Kinabalu's 'messy' Filipino market

Day 2

I revisited the pier and Filipino market to capture the Sunday bargaining and hustling frenzy.

It was a different scene under first light. Many were seen leaving the market by 730am.

Some late comers strolled in picking tomatoes and flipping leftover vegetables.

Somehow it never crossed my mind to check out the price. Must be cheap.

These crops are grown and transported by village islanders, who make their living at the market.

They are worry-free folks. I recalled Bubu describing them as 活一天过一天. l believe. Most are smiling and no one said no to my camera.

Check out my morning shots.

Kids run carefree. Unknowingly perfecting the art of survival as illegal aliens in a town that thankfully (or not) covers one eye.

A toothless granny waved at me as she shooed away a meowing cat, pointing at large beautiful shells laid out on newspapers.

I nodded respectfully. Should have bought (guess it's cheap) and resell on ebay or carousell?

Heading back to hotel for breakfast at 8am, I walked passed a villager casting baits. An elderly man sat beside her, half dozing off.

Time seemed to have frozen. I saw a young man on a boat, staring into the distance on calm waters.

I wonder what's on his mind.

Thanks for reading, till then! 🐻
